Tonight Strikeforce is having one of their biggest events to date. Gina Carano is battling Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos for the Female Championship in the main event. This is a long awaited bout. While Gina is considered the face of women's MMA, (mainly because she doesn't look like
Jim Carrey from In Living Color), it is Cyborg who is thought to be the best fighter. Gina will get the biggest test of her career tonight and probably it is fro Cyborg as well. This could be a great bout. I think that Gina will get her first loss tonight and let's just hope she isn't knocked out because Cyborg has that kind of power.
In other Stikeforce bouts on Showtime you can see, Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi as they battle for the Light Heavyweight Championship. There is also Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez vs. Mitsuhiro Ishida going for the Lightweight Interim Championship. Finally you can see Jay "The Thoroughbred" Hieron vs. Jesse "JT Money" Taylor fighting since Nick Diaz failed to show up for a drug test. Check out the
undercard action here.
So Spike had planned to show the UFC's greatest 100 fights this evening to combat what can be seen on Showtime. Yet I guess in the wake of Fedor signing and with other things happening, the UFC (Dana White) changed their mind and are now going to show most of UFC 100 on Spike this evening. They are going to show the KO of Bisping, Brock's destruction of Mir, as well as the un-aired Mark Coleman vs Stephan Bonner fight.
This is going to be a theme with the UFC from now on. Everytime Strikeforce announces an event, Dana is going to counter it. As you remember they did that once by giving us a UFC event free and showcased it with Anderson Silva busting up James Irvin. What is going to be interesting to see is what they do when Fedor get's his first time in the cage with his new home. I suspect Dana will give the fans something special and thus a reason to remember that the UFC has the best figthers in the world
NOT strikefarce!
By the way I will take Cyborg, Mousasi, Ishida and Heiron. I really want to see Jesse Taylor win but the dude will be fighting for the 3rd time in 5 weeks and he had only a 5 days to cut weight so I don't think he will be ready.
