UFC 100 - Bisping vs Henderson

Ok so since the UK news has slowed down and with UFC 100 coming up this weekend, I thought I would break down some of the key fights taking place on Saturday. First up is Michael Bisping vs Dan Henderson. As you probably know these to fighters were the coaches on this seasons The Ultimate Fighter UK vs US. The season we saw Henderson being mostly reserved and Bisping talking trash.

With the fight just a few days away now Michael Bisping is coming out and says he is upset with Henderson for a comment Dan made about him. On the last show Dan said that he was looking forward to fighting Bisping because he thought he was a douche bag. OK grant it that isn't a very flattering term but what gets me is Bisping's response. He said this today:

"He's been calling me a douchebag," Bisping said. "It makes me laugh. We made 12 episodes of 'The Ultimate Fighter,' and the guy never opened his mouth once.

"He said very, very little, and when he does decide to open his mouth the most intelligent thing he can come up with is to call me a douchebag. It's probably the same line he's been using since sixth grade. Maybe it's a good thing he kept his mouth shut."

He goes on and on about stuff and the up shot is Bisping doesn't see anything wrong with all his antics and trash talking but the one little word out of Henderson's mouth is over the line? Come on Michael if you can't take it don't dish it out. MB seems to think that Henderson should have talked back and forth during the show and not behind his back. Well news flash Michael maybe Dan doesn't like you. Get over it.

Really what is going on here is MB is finding something to get mad at Henderson for and using that as motivation. IF that is the case I would say Henderson as already won. But what does that really mean for the fight? Well Michael is a kick boxer and has been training in Muay Thai and Ju-Jitsu. Henderson is a world class wrestler having represented the United States in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.

So Bisping will want to keep this off the mat if possible. Henderson will want to take him down and pound on him for 15 minutes. Bisping has mentioned that he is lacking in wrestling skills but thinks he will do a pretty good job with his take down defense.

This fight looks to be a good one. Many people don't respect Bisping and don't think he is a great fighter like Dan. Personally Henderson is on the tail end of his career but at 38 his ground skillz are still sharp. Unlike a striker (Chuck Liddell) as you age you can still neutralize your opponent because of you great ground game (Randy Couture). I look for Dan to teach Michael a think or two and win by decision. If Dan were to lose it would be either late in the 1st or early in the 2nd but really I think Michael is going to be surprised at how dominate Dan can be.

My pick is Henderson 30-27 on the cards of all 3 judges. Bisping is going to have a breakout party it just won't be Saturday night.
