Torres Upset and UFC Middweight Looking for a New Champ

Brian Bowles shocked the MMA world last night with his impressive TKO over Miguel Torres. Having won 17 in a row Torres was beginning to get his name tossed around with the likes of Anderson Silva and GSP as the best pound-for-pound fighter out there. That certainly took a hit (pun intended) last night when Bowles won. Bowles knocked him down early but was unable to finish him off. Later in the round he got his second chance and was able to walk out with the belt as the Bantamweight Champ in the WEC.

In other news, Five Knuckles is reporting that Anderson Silva will relinquish his Middleweight belt and move up to Lightweight. Dan Henderson has to be upset because he was really wanting another shot at Anderson and to be honest I was really wanting to see that.

When asked about fighting Machida his long time friend Anderson had this to say:

"Lyoto is my friend, he is my brother and there is no way that fight will ever happen," Silva said at the UFC 101 post fight press conference. "And also not just because he's my friend. [Lyoto would] be a big problem for me."

If they keep on winning I can't see how they DON'T fight to be honest. Dana White says in that article that he will make it happen. If Anderson wants to truly be considered one of the best then he might just have to fight Lyoto. Then again he could just duck out on the competition and go to a lower class organization and be the man there.....wait Strikeforce already has one of those could they survive with 2?
