One of my favorite things to watch every year is the Little League World Series. There is something about seeing the purity of the game from those 11-12 year olds. They play because they love the game and they pour their heart and soul into it. The emotion that they display is impossible to miss and it is hard to keep from getting wrapped up in it.

This year Kentucky will again be represented in Williamsport, PA with a team from Logan County. For me this is a bit humbling since a friend of mine son will be playing. (gez where does the time go?)So with that I am even more anxious to watch their games next week. They are listed on the schedule (here) as the representative from the Great Lakes Region.

If you were lucky enough to see them play last night you realize that this team is pretty darn good. They beat the Indiana champs 10-3 but based on the feel of the game it might as well have been 100-3. The win was sweet revenge for the All-Stars from Russellville, they had lost to the same Bartholomew County National in the pool play earlier in the week. In fact the boys from KY were 0-2 and then rattled off 4 straight wins to earn their ticket to Pennsylvania.

Next weekend I am going to a homecoming at my home church where I was looking forward to seeing my youth minister and his family. However, since it is his grandson that will be playing first base on Saturday and Sunday I have a feeling that he won't be there. Good luck Caleb and the rest of the Logan All-Stars in Williamsport. Keep up the great defense and the bats hot!!
