It was a great time at Huber's Winery Cardinal Caravan stop, with a small, intimate turnout. Though a smaller turnout than last season, you could still feel the electricity and passion in the air, like EVERY Cardinal Caravan stop. I think what makes these Caravan stops so special for me is, it is the off-season, and it gets you "in the mood", to start getting hype for the upcoming season, and hearing our coaches talk is always second to none.
If you have not made it to any Cardinal Caravan stops yet, do yourself a favor, and hit one up.
If you know me, I do not lie, and pride myself on credibility, especially on reporting quotes and events. I was kind of upset that the ONLY player from men's basketball, football, and baseball that was there was Trent Guy, our starting WR this season. At last season's event at Huber's, there was Jerry Smith, Andre McGee, Earl Heyman, and Harry Douglas. It was truly awesome there were so many. But this year, they only brought Trent, and I am grateful that they chose to bring him, and I made the best of the opportunity.
Trent is an outstanding young man to talk with. He has quick, flashing eyes, a very humble disposition, and made a point to shake our hands, and even asked our names, which I really found refreshing. I talked with Trent, and he is very excited about his upcoming role as the starting WR, and has nothing but praise for our Senior Paduch product, Hunter Cantwell. When you talk to, and stand next to Trent, everything about him, reminds me of Harry Douglas. Size, demeanor, flashy eyes, and very aware. After last night, and the young man that I see in Trent, I am now a HUGE Trent Guy supporter. A total class act, through and through.
In our discussion, Trent told us that, "I admire TRUE fans", and on his second plate of food, said "I am trying to eat all I can", to gain some extra muscle before the season. What was so bizarre to me was, here is this room full of Card fans, and until I saw him in the crowd, I do not think that very many people even knew who he was. As soon as I saw him, I rolled over and started talking with him, and I think he appreciated that Nikki and I actually knew who he was, without presentation. I, as a Die-Hard Card, found that a bit unsettling personally. After I gravitated to Trent, finished speaking with him, taking pictures, and getting him to sign my hat, then a barrage of fans came over to do the same.
I will conclude on this note, Trent Guy is an outstanding, refreshing young man, and if you see him, do not be afraid to go up and let him know you support him. He is very excited to be our starter, and is brimming with optimism. Give this young man the support he deserves, because he will be putting this new WR squad we have in place on his shoulders this season, and when Trent takes off deep and Hunter unleashes that 72 yard in no wind passing arm, I promise we will all be on the edge of our seats.
GO TRENT!!!!! GO CARDS!
