Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that this would have been a different game today against Louisville had we had any output whatsoever from Jodie Meeks? This just goes to show how devestating the injury to Meeks was. He is no where near the Jodie Meeks he was last season. That can be attributed solely to the injury as he is not in game shape yet. He has an excellent game and then an off game. I look by the 4th or 5th game into conference play for Jodie to be at full speed and then we will see what this team is truly capable of at that point.
That will also give Derrick Jasper to be back up to game speed. It is evident to me, watching Derrick play that he loves wearing that jersey. He is all over the place, giving more effort than a lot of the guys even though he is only at 3/4 speed right now. He gives up his body for the betterment of this team. His floor leadership is just what this team needs. Now it just has to meld with the leadership of Patrick Patterson. That's going to take time to develop that chemistry. Like I said, 4th or 5th game into conference play and we should see what this team is capable of.
As of right now, the only way I see this team making the tourney is to run the SEC Tournament and get an automatic bid. Again, this is going off of what we have right now. We have no idea what this team is capable of doing once everyone is in complete game shape and 100% healthy.
Tough loss to Louisville today. Did anyone else have a little piece of them wishing that Joe C would have retaliated and knocked TWill's teeth down his throat? I absolutely detest punk thugs like him. Kid should have been tossed. Not only did he push Smooth, but throwing a punch at Joe C who was only trying to keep it from escalating, that was uncalled for. Just another testament to the type of players that U of L consistently brings in. Thugs.
