Countdown to 2,000....wins

Alot of Kentucky Basketball fans are watching the clock, the wins clock that is. At the beginning of the year, Kentucky basketball held a slim 16 win lead on the Tarheels of North Carolina for All-time wins. I always call Kentucky the all-time winningest team in college basketball. But for me it is a combination title. Yes, they have the most total wins, but they also have the fewest losses of any team in the top 50, maybe even more. UNC is withing 16 wins, but they have 78 more losses. UK has… Continue

Catchin' ESPN slippin'.........

Deh Deh Deh.....Deh Deh Deh. This just in, ESPN SportsCenter is talking about that awesome SG who is on a real tear this year. There is just one problem. They keep miss-pronouncing his name.......by alot. I'm not sure how Stu, Dickie V, Winer, Wingo, Bilas, and the rest of these guys are all mispronouncing it the same way. It is ludicrous!! How do you get... "STEPHEN CURRY"

Make sure you see what you are looking at....

Yes, Michael Porter has had much better games as of late. But, is that because of late none of our opponents have had guards that could really apply any pressure on Porter; offensively or defensively? This new label of "steadying influence" all started in the Indiana game. You know how someone says a girl has a nice personality when you ask what is she like? It is a tell-tale sign that she isn't a looker, right? OK, well, calling Porter a "steadying influence" is a nice way of saying he doesnt m… Continue

For the Manic-Depressive/Bi-Polar UK fan......Chill Out!!, You're embarrassing the rest of us!!!

"Hey!, pay attention"....says Coach......listen to Dad...he'll see you through these times....... Oh, how the numbers comfort me……. The 2008-2009 UK Basketball season has not gotten off to the greatest of starts. Last year was Billy Gillispie’s first season as head coach at the most storied program in NCAA History. However, he screwed up; he went ahead and started improv… Continue

Cold hard fact? Play DeAndre Liggins now, and often......

OK, that hurt. But, did it hurt you for the same reasons it hurt me? Let’s find out. I was hurt because once again Coach Billy decided to start Michael Porter at point guard. In hockey, they have a rating system called the “plus/minus”. Using the statistics available I was able to make this system apply to UK basketball. Here are the numbers, and if Coach isn’t reading this, I hope someone who has his ear will pass it along. In the first two games of this season a very ugly trend has come to li… Continue

Does it truly get darkest just before Dawn? For UK, let's hope so......

Hello, my name is Michael Porter and I am NOT your starting PG. Sure, I am a great kid, and I'll give you 100%, but my 100% isn't 40% of what UK needs at PG. DeAndre Liggins needs to get more minutes and starts...immediately. Liggins makes mistakes that can be cured by in-game coaching and experience. Porter's mistakes are strictly due to a lack of ability and athleticis… Continue

Ambush at Saddleback

The Ambush at Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren of Saddleback “Mega”Church tried to hold a civil forum in which there was no advantage given to either candidate, and a complete absence of negativity. His biggest quote was that he believed in the separation of church and state, but not the separation of faith and politics. After watching the forum, I couldn’t disagree more with both his belief, and more importantly, his success of not handing an advantage to a candidate. No, I am not speaking of th… Continue

Independence Torn…Part 1

Independence Torn…Part 1 By: UKTopherdad 2008 has brought a whole new meaning of politics in America for me. I am only 31 years old and have a 5 year old son. I served in the Marine Corps for 4 years when I turned 18. These 4 years just happened to be from 1994-1998; after Desert Storm and before 9/11. I spent some time overseas in Western Europe, mostly the Mediterranean Sea and the countries that surround it. Though I have served to protect our right to vote, I have never exercised it. It jus… Continue

How good is Patrick Patterson?

How good is Patrick Patterson? Well, you could do what the rest of the sports world is doing and base it on a comparison to players on other teams and in better situations. Let’s keep this one in-house shall we? After 24 games, even though our Cats are only 14-10, however: Patrick Patterson has scored 382 points so far in his freshman year. Ahead of him? ……… Continue

A Lost focus.....

I believe we, the Big Blue Nation, have lost our way about this season. I have even caught myself taking my eye of the ball, so to speak. This season was about getting a new culture, breathing new life into a stagnant and somewhat divided program. Now, all I read about is UK’s chances of making the dance…everywhere. Whoa Whoa Whoa boys!! I am hoping the Coach Gillispie is just doing a splendid job of hiding his hand, because I am lost as to exactly what has happened this year so far. Watching M… Continue

Clemens didn't lie....

The holes in Clemens’ deposition are nothing but setups, whether accidental or intended. Q Did you ever discuss anabolic steroids with Brian McNamee? A I don't think in direct -- I think if it was a conversation of the day, if something was newsworthy, we talked about it. Q Do you recall any specific instance? A I'm sure we've talked about them. But I don't think it was anything with substance or -- or -- it had to be, you know, if something was newsworthy on the -- you know, newsworthy that da… Continue

Knoblach and NannyGate....useless

OK, this one took all of about 10 minutes. It took 56 pages talking with Chuck Knoblach to come up with: Q Okay. Let me go back to the Mitchell Report, because it sounds to me, from everything you have said, really the only thing you can share with the committee in your knowledge is the one page in the Mitchell Report. You don't have any knowledge about Andy Pettitte. You don't have any knowledge about Roger Clemens. You don't have any knowledge about baseball generally. You just know your situ… Continue

4 hours later, Pettitte's deposition

And now, with the depositions of Andy Pettitte, Chuck Knoblach, Roger Clemens' Nanny, Brian McNamee, and Roger Clemens in hand; I can give everyone the real situation. No more of the media's oozing of just what they want the public to know so that they can have the sensational story. What sensational story you ask? Brian McNamee being a liar is not a story, it is a boring and overtly obvious fact. The sensational story is for a MLB Icon to be tainted with Steroids/HGH use, primarily because they… Continue

4 hours later.....

"And that was a lie?" "Yes sir, it was". This question and answer was said in the hearings under the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform almost a dozen times. "You provided drugs to players?" "Yes sir". "And those drugs were illegal?" "Yes sir". "So you are a drug dealer, you were dealing drugs?" "That's your opinion". "And this place was essentially a diploma mill?" "Yes sir, as I later learned", said of the claim of being a PHD. These are excerpts between members of the committe… Continue

A few notes, ideas, possibilities to ponder

The Auburn game was another struggle, no surprise. Once again we saw how vital Ramel Bradley is, how important it is for Jasper to have him on the floor, and of course the relief Porter will feel when Bradley returns. Perhaps Porter has reached his ceiling or hasn’t been working hard enough, or is working on the wrong parts of his game. Porter simply cannot sustain his dribble well enough against any defender to possib

UK Wildcats need some fortune.....

UK just can’t get a break, wait; don’t say “break”…..

Seriously Big Blue Nation does this suck or what. I think the rest of the schools on our list are in a big-time hurry to play us. Why? I believe they all know that we are

After Chad Johnson scored a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in week 12, he ran over behind a TV camera and pointed it at the crowd.

Who's that guy? He's no average Joe....

Wow, how many of us UK fans thought our guys were gonna pull this one off? A win over an undefeated Vanderbilt team in the SEC opener couldn't have come at a better time.
And how about Joe Crawford? I don't care if another blogger has beaten me to it, because I hope Joe reads all of the bloggers tonite. He never left Shan Foster's side, I swear I even
saw him try to follow him to the Commodore bench once, LOL. He fought through and around screens, didn't make silly tired fouls. Norm

The SEC owns the BCS

Ever since the BCS was introduced, the SEC has compiled wins better than that of any other BCS conference. The Big East has taken advantage of thier recent team swap with the ACC to pull slightly ahead of the SEC in overall bowl winning percentage, while still having far fewer wins and total games played. Other than that, the SEC dominates bowl games, and BCS Championship games. You can see the stats below:

A Challenge to ESPN2 writer Jamele Hill....

Ms. Hill wrote an article for ESPN2 a while ago that really got me upset. It dealt with why she believed Kobe Bryant was better than Michael Jordan I wrote a blog on that one that unfortunately got trashed. I refreshed it, simply so that I could throw this challenge out. She has just written another, well, piece we'll call it. She is calling out Roger Clemens as a liar based on...a liars testimony, and then trying to make us understand how it makes sense. I completely expect her not to respon
